It’s great that you’re interested in learning more about the 48 Hour Mountain Biking Transformation.
Should you end up at one of the Transformations, my promise to you is this:
In a single weekend, you’ll discover everything you need to know to completely shift the way you ride and move your mountain biking to the next level. Topics covered will include cornering, braking, pumping, bike and body separation, counterbalance, center of mass and more!
Sedona is not only one of the most strikingly beautiful mountain biking locations on the planet, but it’s also one of the most technically challenging mountain biking spots there are. This makes it arguably the best location anywhere to learn the technicalities of mountain biking.
Sedona is my home turf and my promise to you is to teach you what I know in the safest way possible. You’ll leave my camp with a deeper understanding of the sport and be a substantially better rider than when you arrived. All I ask is that you practice what you’ve learned!
STEP 1: Know What You Can Expect During the Transformation
This is about Transformation, so it’s going to be a little intense. Here’s the rough schedule so you have an idea what’s in store for your riding!
Drills, drills drills!
I work on ensuring every fundamental skill is addressed and being done effectively.
Introduction to Center of Mass and getting a deeper understanding of how it feels when you’re centered on the bike and how it plays into every skill.
Lunch break 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
After lunch we take it out onto the trails.
We’ll session specific areas to embed the morning’s drills.
*As we encounter problem spots on the trail, we address them as needed.
Pressure control, where and how it’s used.
Getting the wheels off the ground!
Reading lines(line choice)
Dynamic braking and cornering techniques.
Lunch break 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Technical descending and climbing.
Shifting the apex in a corner /switchbacks.
Counter steering(steering with back of the bike)
*As we encounter problem spots on the trail we address them as needed.
Day 3: (Optional)
This is an optional upgrade you can select after you place your deposit (just email me and let me know you want to add this.) This upgrade extends the Transformation with a private 90 minute ride with me. We’ll work on applying what we’ve covered over the previous two days and also have a great time riding.
STEP 2: Know What You Need to Bring
- A mountain bike in good running order.
- Eye wear.
- Knee and elbow protection.
- Platform pedals.
- A tire repair kit and multi tool and pump
- Shell/ light rain jacket.
- Trail snacks and lots of water, 60 to 100oz recommend.
STEP 3: Understand the Fees, Check the Calendar, Choose a Date and Submit a Deposit
The fee to attend a 48 Hour Mountain Biking Transformation is $1,500 per person. (You can add the optional Day 3 upgrade for an additional $300.) A 50% deposit of the base fee ($750) is due to reserve your spot and the balance is due before we begin. Please note, the deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. Should something happen where you are unable to attend, your deposit will be held and applied to a future event.
Please Note: these fees cover the Transformation only, you’re on your own for lodging and food. (Although I’m happy to give you recommendations because there’s some good eating here!) There won’t be more than 8 people in the group so there’s plenty of time for customized attention during the two days.
